One mom went completely viral on social media recently after she posted a video of herself sneaking into her daughter’s middle school. The video already has over 100,000 views on YouTube.
The mom disguised herself as her 13 year old daughter to see if anyone would notice. She dressed like her teen and wore the required face mask and walked into the school like she was a student and belonged there. She even went to classes and participated like any other student.
In the video, you can hear her even saying “Good morning” to the school principal and interacting with a teacher who told her how to find a class.
She went completely unnoticed by teachers and administrators throughout most of the day. Towards the late afternoon, she finally came clean and turned herself into the school principal after a random teacher finally noticed she was not actually a student.
So why would a mom do this you might ask? Well she did it to prove a point. School security is a joke. Its terrifying to think that anyone can just walk into a school and go unnoticed.
The mom has not been named, but the superintendent of the school, Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez, made the following statement:
“While there was a breach in security by an individual associated as a parent with the school…we want to assure you that our security measures are being reviewed and evaluated.”
With the scary reality of school shootings, and living in a COVID world currently, security should be a top concern for every school. Kudos to this mom for bringing some awareness to such an important issue. Hopefully this will bring about some real changes to school security.
