Catelynn Lowell is being heavily criticized for begging her fans for money to help support her daughter’s cheerleading ventures on social media even though we all know she is making a massive salary with MTV.
Cate posted to her Instagram account to ask fans to sponsor her daughter, Nova’s cheerleading squad, the “Tiny Tulips”.
The post was captioned:
“So nova is looking for sponsors you can literally pick ANY number on this page and pay the number! So if you pick number 20 then you would donate $20! The donations would help with uniforms, practice and competitions! Anything helps thank you so much! Forgot to say for donations your name gets put into a drawing for prizes! Can’t believe I’m gonna be a cheerleader mom ❤️🎉📣 if you want to donate to the fundraiser send me a DM”
The post included a picture of the fundraising sheet showing Novalee’s name and the team name of “Tiny Tulips”.
Cate also included a sweet picture of Nova smiling and giving a thumbs up in the post.
She can be seen wearing a tye dye shirt as she poses in what looks like a park.
It seems like Cate expected some backlash for the post, because she quickly turned the comments section off.
Cate’s avoidance of the negative comments didn’t quite work, because angry fans then headed to Reddit to voice their feelings about it.
Most fans commented wondering why Cate and Ty didn’t just pay it themselves.
One fan said:
“This is a very strange use of her platform. She and Tyler could afford to donate for Nova and [every] other kid on the team probably.”
Another added:
“Um WTF Cate? Y’all should have plenty of money. Go sponsor another child. I’m honestly shook.”
Other’s thought it was “shameful” to ask for money when you are making plenty of your own.
“They have more than enough money, it’s shameful that she is asking for donations.”
Another fan noted:
“Doesn’t MTV give her AND Tyler a pretty substantial paycheck? There’s no need to solicit donations, especially at a time when some people may be struggling to put food on the table.”
It’s well known that Cate has just signed on to be in the cast of the new season of the Teen Mom spin off , Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.
Cate was also in the first season of the spin off show, which has pretty decent ratings for MTV.
It was reported that both Cate and her husband, Tyler each make $600,000 per year just from their filming with MTV.
Cate also has a thriving microblading eyebrow business that keeps her busy. She uses her social media accounts to promote that business also.
