Teen Mom star Catelynn Lowell and childhood love/now husband, Tyler Baltierra have both struggled with their share of trauma related mental health issues. Now amidst being a father for the 3rd, technically 4th time, Tyler is struggling more than ever with his diagnosis of Bipolar disorder.
In a clip for the upcoming episode, Cate and Ty were discussing his “insecurities as a dad” and how them stem from his “his tough childhood.”
He said that he doesn’t always feel as though he has his “sh*t together” and that sometimes he feels as though the things he says out loud are not “absorbed”.
He continued by saying:
“Maybe my perception is distorted. Maybe I’m getting these vibes that aren’t really real.”
Cue flashback clips of Tyler and a voiceover of Cate reminding viewers that Tyler was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder.
She then said:
“For many years, Tyler was angry with his dad and sometimes it prevents him from believing that he’s a good dad to our daughters.”
We then see Tyler telling Cate that he is exploring some other treatment options and that he doesn’t feel “worthy enough to raise these kids”.
Cate lovingly told Tyler that he is “more of a f**king man” than his father, Butch, “will ever be.”
Shortly after the clip aired, fans took to social media to flood the comments section of the clip with uplifting messages in support of Tyler and his mental health battle.
Tyler then took to the comments section to thank fans for their love and support throughout the years.
He wrote:
“I just wanted to come on here & thank every single one of you who show support & for all of your kind words, it truly means so much to me.”
“Being diagnosed with Bi Polar has been a huge adjustment for me, since I’ll most likely always challenge that diagnosis.”
“However, I acknowledge that I don’t hold all the answers & should take advantage of any types of treatment out there that I’m comfortable receiving.”
“I’m super happy with the healing path that I’ve chosen! It’s lead me to a very special place in my life. A place that feels nurturing & warm but also protected by an ethereal, strong wisdom I didn’t have prior.”
He continued:
“I have a beautiful life that I’m so blessed with & I make sure to count those blessings everyday, as often as I can!
“I just want to sincerely thank all of you who have been on this journey with me & my family…I love all of you so much! 🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻”
